Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium

Previously known as the Sardar Patel Stadium, the Narendra Modi Stadium is situated on the outskirts of Ahmedabad, on the banks of the Sabarmati River. This magnificent stadium was built in just nine months on 50 acres of land that the Gujarati government gave.

Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium

One of the oldest cricket grounds in India is Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium. Wankhede is Mumbai’s cricketing hub, even though Eden Gardens is the nation’s oldest ground. Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium

Originally named after its contractors, Visaka Industries, the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad was built in 2004. Operating out of the Pavilion End and North End, the stadium is home to the Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA).

It is 16 acres in size and can accommodate 55,000 people. Since the Sports Authority of Andhra Pradesh owned its previous venue, the Lal Bahadur Shastri Stadium, the HCA constructed this stadium to regain complete control. 

Rajiv Gandhi, the former prime minister of India, was honored with a new name for the stadium. Its name and size caused controversy at first, with some arguing that its tiny size made it unsuitable for important games, which resulted in high-scoring contests.

The stadium saw major renovations despite early setbacks, such as being deemed unfit for first-class games. It was finished and equipped with floodlights by 2008. Although the Deccan Chargers did not win at home until 2011, it was their home field during the first season of the Indian Premier League.

Lucknow’s Bharat Ratna Shree Atal Bihari Vajpayee Stadium

This stadium was renamed in 2018 in honor of former Indian Prime Minister Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee from its previous name, Ekana Cricket Stadium. Inaugurated in 2014, the stadium in the energetic city of Lucknow played host to its maiden international game in 2018. It had previously hosted the Duleep Trophy final for 2017–18. 

The stadium has held multiple games for the Afghanistan national team and is home to the Lucknow franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL). With five matches scheduled for the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023, including the much-awaited match between India and England, it has emerged as a major location for international cricket.

Jaipur’s Sawai Man Singh Stadium

The Sawai Mansingh Stadium, a historic cricket stadium built during the reign of Maharaja Sawai Mansingh II, is situated in Jaipur, India’s “Pink City.”

Sawai Mansingh Stadium hosted World Cup matches in 1987 and 1996, despite having a smaller capacity than other of India’s biggest venues.
