KKR’s flight forced to make an overnight diversion to Varanasi due to a squall in Kolkata
The Kolkata Knight Riders arrived at their destination in just around 24 hours, including a night stop in Varanasi. The flight from Lucknow to Kolkata takes about 100 minutes. Venky Mysore, CEO of KKR, stated, "Our manager and logistics team did a tremendous job.
The squall that hit Kolkata on Monday night prevented the plane from landing at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, which resulted in the delay and diversion. Knight Riders' aircraft, which had taken departure in Lucknow at approximately 5:45 p.m. on Monday, had to be rerouted to Guwahati due to weather-related disruptions.

Chennai Super Kings pacer Matheesha Pathirana is nursing a hamstring injury and will be returning to Sri Lanka for further recovery," according to a press release issued by CSK.
With Deepak Chahar also sustaining a major injury that would likely keep him out of the season, it only makes CSK's problems worse.
After a mediocre start to the season, CSK is presently fifth in the standings.

Harpreet Brar and Rahul Chahar help PBKS conquer CSK
At Chepauk, there was a spin choke, but the host team did not give it out. With no boundaries given up, Rahul Chahar and Harpreet Brar combined to take four wickets as the Punjab Kings defeated the Chennai Super Kings for the sixth time in a row. The two spinners played a key role in the triumph, limiting the hosts to 162/7, a score that was manageable under the incredibly damp circumstances. Despite having a sluggish start to the season, the victory made sure that PBKS remained within striking distance of a playoff spot. Due to their second straight home defeat, CSK was unable to solidify their place in the top four.

DC succumb to KKR's outstanding all-around performance.
At Eden Gardens on Monday, Kolkata Knight Riders crushed Delhi Capitals by seven wickets thanks to their dominance with the bat and the ball. With 21 balls remaining, they managed to chase down the score after holding the visitors to 153 for 9. They gained two points more than the third-place Chennai Super Kings with this win, solidifying their position in second place on the points table.

Deshpande and Gaikwad assist CSK to climb up to third spot
Chennai Super Kings defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad by 78 runs at home to get back on track and reclaim their playoff positions in the rankings. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, who was two wickets short of a century in back-to-back IPL games, led the triumph march. In a fast-paced 32-ball 52, big-money addition Daryl Mitchell finally rediscovered his scoring touch, setting up a 107-run stand (64 balls) with Gaikwad (98 off 54). Following their 212-run total, CSK used a brilliant bowling performance, spearheaded by Tushar Deshpande's 4 for 27, to deny SRH a victory in their last five meetings at Chepauk.

Before the second half of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 season, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will have a significant boost as Afghanistan pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi is expected to join the team if ACB agrees to provide him a non-objection certificate (NOC) for the duration of the competition. With a strong start to the IPL 2024 season, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), led by skipper Pat Cummins, appears certain to make it to the playoffs this year.

Mitchell Marsh unavailable for the remainder of IPL 2024
Cricket Australia is keen for Mitchell Marsh to stay at home and continue his rehabilitation and recovery ahead of the T20 World Cup in June, thus the Delhi Capitals will be without the all-rounder for the duration of the 2024 Indian Premier League.
Before sustaining a hamstring injury, Marsh played in the Capitals' first four games of the season. After the team's game against the Mumbai Indians on April 7, he left for Australia, with his availability for the rest of the season unclear. Head coach Ricky Ponting essentially confirmed his absence for the second half of the season a fortnight later.

In the meantime, host captain Sam Curran of the Punjab Kings was fined up to fifty percent of his match fees for a Level 1 violation related to "showing dissent at an umpire's decision" under Article 2.8 of the IPL's Code of Conduct during the team's home game against the Gujarat Titans.

Injured Conway out of IPL 2024
Due to an injury, Devon Conway, a wicketkeeper-batter for the Chennai Super Kings and New Zealand, will miss the entirety of IPL 2024. Richard Gleeson, an England fast bowler, has joined CSK's squad to take his spot.
During the second Twenty20 International against Australia in Auckland in February, Conway broke his thumb joint. Conway had surgery after that, and while CSK had hoped to have him back for the second half of the IPL in May, he is now out for the entire season.

Mustafizur Rahman available for the May 1 CSK-PBKS match
Bangladesh's fast bowler Mustafizur Rahman has been granted one more day of leave to participate in the Indian Premier League, thus he will be available for the Chennai Super Kings' match against the Punjab Kings on May 1. With five matches played, the left-armer has already claimed ten wickets in his CSK career.
Mustafizur had a no-objection certificate from BCB until April 30 for the IPL, but the board has now permitted him to stay an extra day so he may play in one more match for his team. "Mustafizur was originally scheduled to return after April 30, but we've given him permission to stay for their May 1st encounter instead. We want to rest him for a few days before the World Cup, so we are not ready to release him once he is slated to arrive on May 2 for the T20 series against Zimbabwe (which runs from May 3 to May 12)." A BCB official confirmed the situation to Cricbuzz on Monday.
Bangladesh will play the USA in a three-match Twenty20 International series from May 21–25 to get acclimated to their conditions. At the main event, they have two of their four group-stage matches in that nation. Bangladesh has only played two T20Is in the United States before, against the West Indies in Florida in 2018.

Will Rohit Sharma sign with the Delhi Capitals and quit Mumbai Indians?
According to reports, Rohit Sharma may play in the IPL 2025 for the Delhi Capitals instead of the Mumbai Indians. After he met with the owners of the DC team and the captain, rumors started to circulate.
Before the 2024 Indian Premier League, Hardik Pandya unsuccessfully took over as captain of the Mumbai Indians, while Rohit Sharma looks to be leaving the squad. According to reports, the former captain is most likely to sign with Delhi Capitals for the 2025 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. Rohit was spotted conversing with Rishabh Pant and Parth Jindal, the director of JSW Sports and co-owner of the Delhi Capitals, before the MI vs. DC game.
After that, there have been more and more reports suggesting that he will most likely join the franchise.
A person on X has a tweet that is currently trending widely on social media. Parth Jindal allegedly stated, "We would have renamed Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium to Rohit Sharma Stadium if Rohit had won five trophies for our franchise." According to media sources, Rohit had accepted DC's offer to be a member of the squad, but it was not possible because MI demanded a hefty transfer fee. Sharma is anticipated to participate in the IPL 2025 auction, where the Delhi Capitals are likely to bid astronomically high for him, according to some media reports. It is crucial to remember that these are only conjectures, and neither Parth Jindal nor Rohit Sharma have released an official remark on the matter as of yet.
On April 7 at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai Indians defeated the Delhi Capitals for the first time. The squad scored the most points, and MI shot up the points table to take eighth place. Prior to the team's consecutive defeats, there were rumors that Rohit Sharma might be given back the captaincy. It is possible. It's a significant call because, from what I understand, these teams and their owners are eager to take calls, as former Indian cricket player Manoj Tiwary stated to Cricbuzz.

Jadeja helps CSK stop KKR's early-season dominance
On a vintage Chepauk surface, Chennai Super Kings ended Kolkata Knight Riders' early-season dominance. After two losses on the road, CSK arrived home to find a surface that allowed them to spin choke with Ravindra Jadeja (3 for 18 in 4 overs). Mustafizur Rahman came back to take back the purple cap on a surface where the ball just did not come onto the bat, and Tushar Deshpande was also productive. After missing out on strokeplay fluency in the first four games, Ruturaj Gaikwad eventually rediscovered it. Up next, on Sunday, April 14, CSK will travel to Mumbai to face the team of Hardik Pandya. On the same day (April 14), KKR will play a day game against LSG after returning home.

Thakur and Krunal set up an easy victory for LSG
On a sticky surface, Yash Thakur (5-30) and Krunal Pandya (3-11) played outstanding defense to help the Lucknow Super Giants successfully defend 163. With their third straight victory and their first-ever over Gujarat Titans, it moved LSG up to third place in the standings. Gujarat tried to stay in the chase, though, by relying on their lower middle order to perform better, but Yash Thakur's double-wicket maiden proved to be too much for them. Vijay Shankar was edged towards a cut by the pacer, but Rashid Khan toe-ended a massive smash to mid-off.
Thakur returned to win twice more and take the first five-wicket haul of IPL 2024, earning LSG their third victory in four games this season, while Rahul Tewatia dazzled with a quickfire thirty.
What’s next?
On April 10, Gujarat will go to Jaipur to play the undefeated Rajasthan Royals, and on April 12, Lucknow will play the Delhi Capitals after a four-day break.

Have you ever witnessed the longest sixes in IPL history? One of the most exciting sights for baseball fans to witness is a hitter dancing down the pitch and launching the ball into the seats.

2009 | Yuvraj Singh | Kings XI Punjab | 119 |
2008 | Albie Morkel | Chennai Super Kings | 125 |
In the Indian Premier League (IPL), Albie Morkel, a former all-rounder from South Africa, holds the record for the longest six. In an IPL 2008 match between the Chennai Super Kings and the now-defunct Deccan Chargers, Morkel crushed left-arm spinner Pragyan Ojha for a massive six that was 125 meters away. Even after 15 seasons, the fierce shot from the South African player still holds the record for the longest six in the IPL. Surprisingly, Praveen Kumar, a former Indian fast bowler, is ranked second on the list of IPL longest sixes. In an IPL 2013 encounter between MI and KXIP, Kumar smashed Lasith Malinga, the master bowler for the Mumbai Indians, for a 125-meter long off.
The longest six in IPL history is 119 meters, which was hit by Universe Boss Chris Gayle against Ashok Dinda during his aggressive 175* against PWI in 2013. Gayle has the most sixes in IPL history, with 357 in 141 innings.
Nonetheless, Gayle’s 119-meter six is the fifth-longest in the IPL. In the competition, Ross Taylor and Yuvraj Singh have also at one point matched the 119-meter distance. Gautam Gambhir’s name is the most unexpected among the top 10 longest six in IPL history. Gambhir rarely used the aerial path; instead, he liked to precisely time his stroke play to identify the gaps.
But in 2013 during a run-chase, Gambhir took a swing at Rajasthan Royals pacer S Sreesanth. To get Sreesanth to slog over his deep square leg for maximum, Gambhir moved out of his crease and bowed his back foot slightly.
