A team would forfeit Rs 75 crore from the auction pot if they kept five players with caps. In the final week of November, the massive auction took place abroad. At last year’s auction, the teams had access to an auction purse of Rs 100 crore, but now it is Rs 120 crore.

Match fees, additional performance compensation, and an auction purse are now included in the total salary ceiling. Ahead of the upcoming season, a match price of Rs 7.5 lakh per game has been implemented.

Up to six players from the current roster may be retained by the clubs through retention or right-to-match, which is the most in IPL history. With a strike rate of 129, the 25-year-old Gill has played in 103 IPL games and averages nearly 38.
