The IPL edition’s leading run scorer receives the Orange Cap which is among the most popular of all awards in the IPL. The Orange Cap can be worn by several players during a season, with the top run scorer at that time in the tournament getting to wear it. This is frequently the case. The player with the most runs at the end of an edition is the real Orange Cap winner. During the award’s maiden season in 2008, Shaun Marsh was the first recipient. In 11 games, he amassed 616 runs for the Punjab Kings. David Warner is the only player to win three Orange Caps in 2015, 2017, and 2019.

4. Most Valuable Player (MVP)

With a fancy name, like the IPL theme music & song, this is essentially the Player of the Tournament award. The conventional Player of the Series award was used from 2008 to 2012. In 2013, the Most Valuable Player (MVP) award was created, and a scoring system was used to determine the winner. There are 2.5 points for each four-hit. 3.5 points are awarded for each six hit and wicket taken. One point is awarded for each dot ball bowled. Each catch made and each stumping impact is worth 2.5 points. The Most Valuable Player award is given to the player with the most points. The first MVP recipient was Shane Watson, who played for the Rajasthan Royals in 2013. He scored 386 points overall.

Similar to how RCB has changed players over the years, this prize has had numerous name changes. In 2008, it was named the “best under-19 player,” and in 2009 and 2010, it was named the “best under-23 player,” and so on. The honor has been known as “Emerging Player of the Year” since 2014 and hasn’t changed. As the name implies, a young, up-and-coming cricket player who has excelled in an edition is granted the award.

The franchise that is judged to have best preserved the essence of the game during an edition receives the Fair Play award. Teams receive points from the umpires. The most points a team can receive in a game is ten. Based on the team’s adherence to the “spirit of the game,” four points are awarded. Respect for the opposition, cricket rules, and umpires are the other three requirements. Two points are awarded for each criterion. The team with the most points at the end wins.
